Jarrod Smith

My name is Jarrod Smith, and I am the defensive line coach and the freshman head basketball coach at Fairborn High School. I am married to Casey Smith and have one daughter, Collyn.

I am in my sixth year coaching varsity football and my second year coaching freshmen basketball.

I received my master's in education with initial licensure in special education and reading from the University of Dayton in May of 2021. I received my bachelor of arts with a double major in criminal justice and psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington.

I am an alumnus of Fairborn High School (class of 2006), where I was a two-year letter winner in football (Head Coach Roy Thobe) and basketball (Head Coach Todd Grimm). I attended Indiana University-Bloomington on a full athletic scholarship, where I was a center and guard. I also played defensive end and tackle my last two years. I was a three-year letter winner and a 2009 captain for the Indiana Hoosiers. I played for the late Head Coach Terry Hoeppner and Head Coach Bill Lynch.

My coaching philosophy focuses on bringing the best out of the student-athletes under my care and mentorship. I am passionate about coaching because of the great teachers, professors, and coaches I encountered. I have adopted Coach Tom Allen's "LEO "(Love Each Other) concept at IU. The LEO concept is tough love and genuine care for the athletes under my responsibility. I work tirelessly to ensure that my players take academics as their #1 priority, next to religion and family. Feel free to contact me via email or at my office number. I am excited about the 2022-2023 school year.
