The Fairborn Skyhawks Girls’ Basketball program is entering an exciting new chapter as the school proudly announces Cortney Rashone Wiggins as the new Varsity Girls’ Basketball Head Coach.
A graduate of Sandusky High School, Coach Wiggins has built a strong legacy within the Fairborn City School District over the past nine years, serving as a building substitute, middle school coach, and now Guidance Department secretary at Fairborn High School. His deep commitment to students both on and off the court has made him a respected and trusted figure in the Skyhawk community.
For Wiggins, this moment is more than just a career move — it’s the realization of a lifelong dream.
“I am truly thankful for the opportunity to coach and lead a program that has seen many changes at the top,” Wiggins said. “I’m also thankful for the many opportunities that the Fairborn City School District has afforded me, and I am honored and privileged to be entrusted with this position.”
A devoted husband and proud Skyhawk, Coach Wiggins brings not only basketball knowledge but also an unwavering dedication to student-athlete growth. He credits much of his success to the mentors who have guided him along the way — Ron Coleman, Derek Gunter of Mad River, and Dorothy Ann Wiggins — whose lessons helped him navigate both life and coaching with grace. Fairborn Athletic Director Kevin Alexander expressed his enthusiasm for the new hire:
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Coach Wiggins to our athletic family. His passion for the game, commitment to student-athlete development, and strong leadership align perfectly with our values and vision. We’re confident Coach Wiggins will have an immediate and lasting impact on our program, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.” With the support of the Fairborn community, the guidance of an experienced leader, and the determination of the players, the Skyhawks Girls’ Basketball team is poised for a bright and competitive future. This season marks not only a fresh start — but the beginning of a new legacy.
Welcome, Coach Wiggins.
Let’s fly, Skyhawks!
