Our teams competed at Piqua for the MVL: Miami Valley League championship on Saturday. Our boy's team returned with the Valley division title, securing a trophy from the MVL. Two of our seniors were leading the team. Both got an award for the second team all-conference at the meet, reserved for runners who finish in the top 20. Senior D'artaynene Zimmerman placed 13th, and senior Dominic Buschelman placed 20th after a fight at the finish to secure his spot. Matthew Wardle scored third on the team, followed by Ben Henderson, Will Davis, Robert Freeze, William Buschelman, Grayson Howard, and Daniel Arrington. Today, we were the other runners, picking off runners from other teams to help secure our top spot in the Valley MVL Division.
Overall, the entire team ran well. They pushed each other as a team throughout the whole race. Four boys came across the mile one marker in under 6 minutes and continued making each other through the race. We saw many people step up today to fight for the team. We have talked a lot about how to run as a team and for the team, and today, we proved that, and they came away with the trophy! The team will compete at Yellow Springs on Tuesday and then be off to Districts next Saturday to hopefully continue onto the Regional Meet.
